What is it?
Sleep phase advance moves the time of sleep onset and awakening forward (for example, sleep would extend from 5pm to 12 midnight) and is used as an adjunct to other antidepressant interventions.
Sleep phase advance acts to minimize sleep in the critical, 2nd half of the night and correct delays of circadian rhythms found in depression.
What does it treat?
Sleep phase advance has been found effective when used in
conjunction with Wake Therapy. It helps to maintain a long-term benefit of the wakefulness protocol. [15, 16, 17]
